Manx, The Isle of Man, United Kingdom, is one of only three countries in the world that have issued a coin for circulation featuring a depiction of the worldwide sport of Golfing. The other two countries, the Cook Islands, and the Solomon Islands issued silver bullion coins for investors, not real, active golfers, so they don’t really count.
This 5-Pence copper-nickel coin was minted in the 1990s, but few entered circulation, as it is admired for its design commemorating the Sport of Golf.
Queen Elizabeth II is depicted on the obverse, and a golfing scene is depicted on the reverse of each coin.
One of these is a perfect gift for your SWAG professional golfer (or wannabe) to be used as a snobby ball marker while putting on greens.
Ball markers are a big deal for professional golfers and this is the ultimate design for conversation…such as this conversation starter:
“I traveled to Manx just to buy this rare golf coin. The trip cost me three grand, but it was worth it just to possess this reminder of where golf originated (in Scotland, about 300 miles northeast of Douglas, Isle of Man.”
If I had had one of these during the 70 years I was an active golfer, I am sure my handicap score could have been shaved by at least five strokes, just from the fuzzy confidence of placing this beauty on each putting surface.
The marker has a shiny silverish look and is 18 mm in diameter (similar to the size and weight of a USA dime).
My price is $20 for each of these four different coins. FREE SHIPPING!
